Getting Started

Creating your account

Visit iamok.nz and enter your name, email address and a password. Your account is the "owner" account — the person managing the monitoring, not necessarily the person being monitored.

You can also create an account by scanning a QR code from a pendant box or app card — this starts the setup flow automatically.

Adding your first person

Once logged in, go to My People and click Add person. Enter:

  • Name — the person being monitored (e.g. "Mum", "John Smith")
  • Phone number — their mobile number. This is shown in SOS alerts so contacts can call them directly.
  • Check-in interval — how often the app prompts them to check in
  • GPS — whether to record their location during alerts and check-ins

One account can have multiple people — useful for families or businesses monitoring several staff.

Setting up emergency contacts

After adding a person, you'll be taken straight to their Contacts page. Add the people who should be alerted when an SOS fires or a check-in is missed.

Contacts are notified in order — contact 1 first, then contact 2, and so on. Use the up/down arrows to change the order.

For each contact you can set:

  • Name, phone number, email address
  • Notification method: SMS, email, or both

Add at least one contact before activating a device.

Activating a device

After adding contacts you'll be taken to the Devices page. Enter the token from your QR card (format: IAMOK-XXXX-XXXX).

Alternatively, scan the QR code with your phone camera — it opens the activation page automatically.

The token links the physical device or app to the person's record. Once activated, alerts will fire to that person's contacts.

Sending the setup SMS

Once a device is activated, you can send the person a setup SMS directly from the Devices page. The SMS includes:

  • A link to download the iamok app
  • Their personal token
  • A direct setup link they can tap to activate immediately

The phone number is pre-filled from their profile. The token shown is locked to their account — it cannot be used by anyone else.

Removing a person

To remove a person from your account, go to My People → Edit and scroll to the Danger zone at the bottom of the page.

Removing a person will:

  • Deactivate all their linked devices
  • Free up their token so it can be reassigned
  • Stop all check-in monitoring immediately
  • Retain their alert history for your records

You cannot remove a person who has an active unresolved SOS alert — resolve the alert first.
