iamok App

Downloading the app

The iamok app is available for Android. Search for "iamok nz" on the Google Play Store, or tap the download link sent to you via SMS setup.

You can also download directly from iamok.nz/download.apk.

Entering your token

When you first open the app, enter your token (format: IAMOK-XXXX-XXXX). This is printed on your app token card or sent to you via the setup SMS.

The token links the app on your phone to your person's record in iamok.nz. Make sure you have:

  • Created an account at iamok.nz
  • Added the person and their emergency contacts
  • Added the token on the Devices page

If your token doesn't work, check that it has been activated on the Devices page first.

SOS button usage

The large SOS button on the app's main screen must be held for 2 seconds to fire an alert. This prevents accidental triggers.

When SOS fires:

  • A confirmation is shown on screen
  • Your emergency contacts are alerted by SMS
  • The SMS includes a respond link so contacts can acknowledge and view your location
  • The alert is logged in your history

Keep the app open or running in the background for best performance.

Check-in prompts

The app will send a notification at your set check-in interval (e.g. every hour). When you receive it, tap I'm OK to confirm you're safe.

If you don't respond within the interval, your emergency contacts are automatically alerted with a "missed check-in" notification.

To change your check-in interval, go to My People → Edit on the iamok.nz website.
